Qantas is to open a new First Lounge at Heathrow, part of preparations for non-stop flights to Australia’s east coast.
The First Lounge will operate alongside the current International Lounge, which will become a dedicated International Business Lounge. It is expected to open in late 2025, coinciding with the first Project Sunrise flight to Sydney.
Qantas group chief executive Alan Joyce said the Heathrow development was prompted by Project Sunrise.
“London is one of the most important destinations on our network and it’s the perfect location for a First Lounge, especially with our direct Project Sunrise flights on the way,” he said.
The facility, due to open in 2025, is part of a £57 million investment that will also see the airline’s business lounges in Sydney and Melbourne refurbished.
