Royal Caribbean has officially opened the first of its proposed collection of private islands, the $250 million Perfect Day at CocoCay in the Bahamas.
CocoCay features what Royal claims to be the tallest waterslide in North America, Daredevil Peak, a “helium pool” capable of hovering 450-feet above the island, and the Bahamas’ first overwater cabanas.
Other boasts, says Royal, include the Caribbean’s larges wave pool, its largest freshwater pool, Oasis Lagoon, and a 1,600-foot zip-line traversing the island.
Michael Bayley, president and chief executive Royal Caribbean International, said its Perfect Day island offering would “push the envelope” in the same way the line has with ship design and at sea experiences.
“With Perfect Day at CocoCay, we are so proud to bring our 50-year legacy of innovation ashore to transform an incredible island that now completely revolutionises private destinations in the travel industry,” said Bayley.
“It is exciting to see what we have dreamed up finally come to life; our guests truly are in for an experience unlike any other.”
CocoCay is exclusive to Royal guests.
