Ryanair has become the second major budget carrier in a matter of days to report a doubling of its passenger carryings in the past calendar year.
On Tuesday (3 January), Wizz Air revealed its full-year passenger numbers increased from 21.7 million in the year to 31 December 2021 to 45.7 million during the same period last year, on an increased load factor of 86.7% versus 75.2%.
Ryanair has now posted its rolling passenger figures for the year to 31 December 2022, which came in at 160.4 million – up 121% year-on-year – on a load factor of 92%. This compares with a load factor of 81% in 2021.
In December 2022, Ryanair operated in excess pf 65,500 flights carrying 11.5 million passengers, up 21% year-on-year from 9.5 million. Load factor was 92%.
