Scenic Luxury Cruises and Tours has claimed "strong interest" for its debut Japan season.
The line will deploy Scenic Eclipse to Japan next year to sail its first-ever Japan voyages. Scenic will offer six Japan itineraries, plus one additional land journey.
Departures will take in Tokyo and Kyoto, the country’s coastline, its national parks and natural wonders. Super earlybird fares are on sale now, with savings of up to 20%.
“This is our debut Japan season and, so far, the response has been excellent, said Nichola Absalom, Scenic’s director of global brand and marketing.
Absalom said with Eclipse topping out at 220 guests, the line would be able to access ports and regions off-limits to larger ships.
She said the knowledge and expertise of Eclipse’s onboard crew, combined with careful itinerary choices, would allow guests to get to grips with Japan’s unique culture and heritage.
Itineraries range from an expedition voyage visiting Japan’s volcanic islands around the Pacific Ring of Fire to a cultural sailing taking in Japan’s east and west coasts.
Highlights include visiting Kyoto’s Golden Temple, opportunities to learn about Geisha culture, travelling to Hiroshima’s Peace Memorial Park, hiking volcanic Mount Esan, and seeing Sado Island’s silver mines.
Scenic’s 12-day Cultural Wonders of Japan sailing, departing 3 June 2023, leads in from £10,015pp, while the 15-day Natural Wonders of Japan, departing 30 June 2023, starts from £11,557pp.
Two cruises can be strung together, and/or combined with a land journey.
