Nominations are sought for a new category in the TTG Luxury Travel Awards, to recognise the individuals driving the sector towards a more sustainable future.
The new Sustainability Hero of the Year category is open to travel and tourism professionals around the world who have been responsible for effecting real change in the last 18 months, either within their own business or in the luxury travel sector more widely.
Entrants might work for a luxury travel provider or retailer in the UK, or work in tourism or hospitality in-destination. They might be responsible for one or more specific sustainability initiatives, such as carbon and plastic reduction, or protecting biodiversity, or supporting local communities in luxury travel destinations. Entrants might also be involved in delivering responsible travel experiences to customers.
TTG Luxury editor April Hutchinson said: “The need for travel businesses and tourism providers to operate more responsibly has never been greater – and often, it is passionate individuals who really drive change.
“In this new category, we will shine a light on those professionals who are blazing a trail in the sector, to celebrate their achievements and to inspire other businesses on changes they can make themselves.”
Nominees can nominate themselves or be nominated by a colleague or industry peer, and should be able to attend the event on 4 March or have a representative attend on their behalf.
To enter, nominees should complete the online entry form by Friday 3 December, answering simple questions about their career, their achievements in the last 18 months, and what makes them a hero to be celebrated.
