Not Just Travel has paid tribute to "rock and foundation" Kristina Janes, the homeworking outfit’s operations and customer experience executive, following her sudden passing aged 49.
The agency confirmed Janes’s death following a short illness in a heartfelt message on Thursday (9 January), praising her “endless compassion, tireless work ethic and unwavering dedication to those she worked with”.
Co-founder Steve Witt said he would remember Janes as a “rock and firm foundation” of the business, saying she was always there to lend a hand, no matter what the problem was.
“She was always at the end of the phone, ready to offer support, lend a listening ear and ensure things got done,” he said. “She always made people feel supported and valued.
“Over the years, she’s helped in many areas of the business and touched many team members with her humour, her banter, and her loyal support."
A travel industry veteran of some 20 years, Janes held a variety of roles before joining Not Just Travel more than 10 years ago.
These included a spell with First Choice Holidays as a travel consultant in Poole, and later, as an assistant general manager with Your Co-op Travel.
Not Just Travel said Janes shared her passion for cruising with colleagues, and revealed she was also her mother’s main carer – a role she wholeheartedly embraced "with the same dedicated and care she brought to her work".
"Kristina has been part of the Not Just Travel family for longer than most and will be dearly missed," added Witt. "She will be deeply missed by everyone in the business who had the opportunity to work with her."
Not Just Travel said Janes had left an "indelible mark" on her colleagues and the business’s travel consultants, born out in the "hundreds" of heartfelt messages received following her passing.
