How can the travel sector work together to prevent further disruption during its vital peak season and a summer of discontent for travellers that could have long-term reputational damage?
That’s the question TTG’s latest Agenda 2022 seminar on 28 July will explore as we once again partner with PwC UK to produce exclusive consumer and trade research examining attitudes to travel in 2022 and beyond.
Agenda 2022: Preventing a summer of discontent will take place at 2pm and will begin with a session by Eleanor Scott, director of strategy, travel and leisure at PwC, as she reveals findings of the latest survey examining how the worsening cost of living crisis could impact consumer travel spending.
It will be followed by a panel discussion focusing on the all-important issue of airports and airlines disruption, as Tim Alderslade, chief executive, Airlines UK, and Karen Dee, chief executive, Airport Operators Association, outline how the sector is working to urgently ramp up staffing levels to deliver the best service it can during its busiest – and most crucial – period.
Next comes a session addressing the frustrations of agents and operators dealing with lengthy call waiting times and asking how the trade can work together to meet overwhelming customer demand, what impact this current strain is having on supplier and partner relationships and how can the sector ensure it never again faces such problems attracting talent.
Speakers include Simon Applebaum, managing director of Gold Medal, Amanda Matthews, managing director of Designer Travel and Claire Steiner, ITT’s director of education.
The afternoon will then conclude with an interview with a travel industry leader giving their assessment on the current challenges facing the sector as it looks to make the most of summer and braces for what could be further difficult months ahead.
An exclusive report of the PwC/TTG findings will be sent out to all delegates following the event. The TTG seminar series is open to all TTG+ members, with sessions available afterwards on-demand.
