Italy has tightened its domestic Covid-19 restrictions, which could impact ski holidays this winter.
On Monday (10 January), the country’s "super green pass" requirement was extended to a range of additional venues, including hotels, public transport, outdoor and indoor hospitality, museums, cultural spaces and festivals.
The pass, which can only be obtained with evidence of full vaccination or recent recovery, is also a requirement to access ski lifts and ski resorts.
This means a negative test is no longer sufficient for unvaccinated travellers to ski in Italy.
Meanwhile, bookings for ski holidays to Austria and Switzerland have reportedly increased as France remains off limits to British tourists.
Ski operator Inghams reportedly told The Times that Obergurgl in Austria had recently emerged as its most popular destination.
The French government closed its border to UK holidaymakers on 18 December in a bid to curb the spread of the Omicron variant.
A senior government source reportedly told the paper that the French border measures made "absolutely zero sense when you look at the data".
Tour operators reportedly warned that forward bookings to the country have been subdued because of the uncertainty surrounding the restrictions.
