Crystal Ski Holidays will offer Japan for the very first time this winter, with trips to the powder resort Niseko available from mid-December through to early April.
Niseko averages 15 metres’ snowfall per season and has 51km of pistes with slopes to suit all abilities, from volcano crater skiing to lower, tree-lined runs.
The traditional European apres-ski is replaced by opportunities to relax in a traditional Japanese onsen, or hot spring, while the mountain fare is replaced by classic Japanese cuisine such as gyoza and ramen, as well as locally produced sake, Hokkaido wines and specially brewed beers.
Other activities include tobogganing, snowshoe walking, snowmobiling, reindeer sledding and snowcat skiing.
Crystal will offer flights from Heathrow departing on Saturdays and Wednesdays. Niseko joins Bosnia and Herzegovina as another of Crystal’s new destinations for the winter.
Chris Logan, Crystal Ski managing director, said: “It goes without saying that Japan offers a unique and unforgettable skiing experience. Whether it’s knee-deep powder, beautiful bluebird days, a different culture or distinctive cuisine you’re after, you’re bound to make once-in-a-lifetime memories on a ski holiday to Japan.
“We’re so excited to be offering Japan as a new long-haul destination this winter, following our recent launch of Bosnia and Herzegovina as a new, budget-friendly destination for something closer to home. We are passionate about providing a wide variety of destinations to suit every type of skier."
