A glass SkyDome, newly designed Grand Atrium and boutique four-screen cinema are among features of P&O Cruises upcoming ship Iona.
The line said SkyDome, which will be located on decks 16 and 17, would be "one of Iona’s star attractions”, providing a new home for onboard entertainment along with a “hidden” nightclub.
By day, the space will offer a venue for relaxation and informal dining and by night, transform for aerial performances, immersive shows and deck parties.
Within SkyDome will be The 710 Club - billed as Iona’s ‘secret spot’ with the decor and atmosphere of a London nightspot for cocktails and live music.
Iona will launch in May 2020 and go on sale in September.
P&O Cruises senior vice-president, Paul Ludlow said: “The SkyDome will be a magical venue with views of the ocean by day and starry skies at night.
“It will be an exciting home to aerial performers who will make the most of the amazing space as well as guest DJs and current performers setting the tone for memorable evenings of music and dancing under the sparkling glass dome."
Iona’s Grand Atrium will span three decks and offer uninterrupted panoramic views of the sea, framed by glazed walls.
The structure is a new development for P&O Cruises, created by architecture and interior design company Jestico + Whiles, the creators of London’s W Hotel and The Yas Hotel in Abu Dhabi.
The Grand Atrium will be home to The Glass House boasting a wine list curated by Olly Smith.
Wine connoisseurs will also be able to enjoy a new experience called Cellar Door at the Glass House, offering wine talks, tastings and wine-pairing dinners.
Ludlow added: “We’ve set out to make sure the sea is the star on Iona, and the design of the Grand Atrium tells you so much about how special she is going to be. Balancing intimate spaces with larger social areas, guests will be wowed by the three-storey high glass walls and the ever-changing view they reveal.
“From the moment they step onto the staircase, I know guests will be swept away by the beautiful design.”
Onboard Iona, P&O Cruises will also introduce its first gastropub, the Keel and Cow, boasting all-day dining, traditional favourites, steaks and sharing platters.
The Quays piazza will be home to a wide range of self-service and “takeaway” venues serving food from all over the world.
As part of a new approach to dining, Iona will exclusively offer Freedom Dining in all of its main restaurants, a first for P&O Cruises.
The move is designed to give more flexibility to each and every guest. They can choose where and with whom they want to eat, and when they will sit down for breakfast, lunch or dinner.
