Charlotte: Welcome to our In The Spotlight video with Air Europa. Colin, last year you added a new route to the Dominican Republic. Tell us everything that agents need to know.

Colin: Great. Yeah. Thank you. Yeah, we’re really excited about this new route that we’re offering to Santiago de los Caballeros in the Dominican Republic.

It’s actually the Dominican Republic’s second largest city. And it’s actually our third destination into the Dominican Republic. We’ve been flying to Punta Cana and its capital Santo Domingo for many years and this then just adds to our offering into that wonderful part of the world.

And it still remains as a destination, one of our most popular destinations on our network. All of our flights operate out of London Gatwick via Madrid in Terminal One in Madrid, and then down into the Dominican Republic. So we’re really excited about this new service.

Charlotte: Fabulous. Thank you. And customers are going to fly on your Boeing 787 Dreamliners, could you share some of the key selling points about the aircraft, which agents can use when they’re talking to their clients?

Colin: Sure, yeah. The Dreamliner is an amazing aircraft. I’m very proud to be able to say that we probably have one of the most modern fleets of aircraft in the industry.

And the flagship aircraft is the Dreamliner. And we operate on our full, long-haul fleet the Boeing Dreamliner aircraft. Some of the key highlights for agents I guess, are from an environmental perspective. The exceptional performance of the aircraft means it’s 20% quieter in terms of noise versus traditional aircraft and it’s more eco-friendly, with a significant reduction in fuel consumption of up to 20%. And the benefit of that is there’s also fewer and fewer emissions as well, which is great for the environment.

In addition to the environmental benefits the Dreamliner offers significantly more comfortable flying experience for our passengers. The advanced cabin pressure system we have on board allows passengers to absorb an extra 8% oxygen. So what does that mean? That helps reduce fatigue, headaches, nausea. And also reduces the impact of jet lag. We also have a cutting edge filtration system on board the Dreamliner, which purifies 100% of the air. This eliminates bacteria odours and reduces dryness by maintaining the optimal humidity levels on board. So the overall experience that your passengers and our passengers will have on board the Dreamliner, is so much more special, and all these benefits, results in a healthier, more refreshing flight experience for our passengers.

Charlotte: Thank you. And travellers have the choice of your economy or business class. Talk us through what each of those products offer.

Colin: We offer a two class product, business, class, and economy. Our Air Europa business class offers an exceptional experience for those travelling in business.

You have priority boarding access to our VIP airport lounges. You have a higher baggage allowance. We also offer fully-flat beds, extra leg room, state of the art in-flight entertainment system and a personalised service throughout your flight experience. In terms of our culinary offering, passengers can look forward to our gourmet meals, including vegetarian and special dietary options. From a menu created by 12 Michelin star, chef Martin Berasategui, the most decorated chef in Spain.

And in our economy product we offer excellent value for money comfortable ergonomic seating, again, state-of-the-art entertainment system on our long-haul flights featuring movies, music and also gaming options.

Meals are included and again, with special dietary requests available in advance. We also offer a series of flexible fares meaning that allows us to meet the needs of every passenger travelling with us.

Charlotte: Brilliant. Thank you. And you fly into Santiago de los Caballeros, tell us a bit about the destination and some of the activities in the region that agents can suggest to their clients.

Colin: Sure. It’s a fantastic destination. So Santiago de los Caballeros offers an authentic Dominican experience away from the typical tourist crowds. Whether you’re immersing yourself in the Dominican music, hiking through scenic mountains or savouring the local cuisine, Santiago is a destination that gives you a deeper connection to the heart and soul of the Dominican Republic.

It’s perfect for those looking to experience the country’s vibrant culture, rich history and stunning natural landscapes. Some places that you can visit within a short distance of Santiago is Puerto Plata which is rich in history and natural beauty with attractions like Mount Isabel de Torres.

You’ve got Samana, known for its nature tours whale watching and secluded beaches. You’ve got Jarabacoa, for ecotourism and hiking and the Dominican Alps, and of course you’ve got the capital Santo Domingo, which is a must for history and cultural lovers with its colonial architecture and vibrant urban culture.

So there really is something for everybody in this country and specifically within easy travelling distance from we’re flying to. So an absolutely excellent opportunity for all those flying to the Dominican Republic.
