Demand for package holidays will continue to grow for the next 12 months, the CAA has said following the latest round of Atol renewals.
A total of 615 of the 668 Atol licence holders due to renew in March have done so, the CAA confirmed on Wednesday (3 April), with another 20 still in the application process or yet to meet licence conditions.
The number of licences granted during last month’s spring renewal window is 11 more than last year. The number that did not apply to renew – 33 – is eight fewer than in 2023.
In all, some 1,630 businesses are currently licensed under the Atol scheme, with renewals twice yearly in March and September.
“Companies renewing their licence in March forecast that passenger demand will continue to grow over the next 12 months as the impact of the pandemic continues to recede," said Michael Budge, the CAA’s head of Atol.
"Holidays remain a high priority for consumers, yet households face continued pressure on their budgets. We will continue to pay close attention to operators’ booking profiles and in particular the bookings for the popular summer departure period.”
