The Swedish tourist board has launched a competition offering free trips to the destinations Ikea products are named after, such as Lofsdalen in the north, Småland in the south or Västmanland in central Sweden.
In its Visit the Home of the Originals competition, Visit Sweden is inviting participants to pronounce the names of products the global furniture giant has named after real places in Sweden, for a chance to win a trip to those destinations.
Entrants should upload a video of themselves to the campaign website attempting to pronounce the Swedish place names properly, along with their reasons for wanting to visit those places, for a chance to win a holiday in 2023.
The four selected winners will get the chance to travel to the mountainous northern wilds of Jämtland and Härjedalen and the Lofsdalen Valley, the forests and lakes of Vastmanland, or other locations that leant their names to Ikea products, such as Lake Bolmen in the south, which Ikea’s toilet brush is named after.
The competition is open for entries until 30 September 2022.
