Thomas Cook has expanded into Europe for the first time since it was relaunched by Chinese travel giant Fosun as an OTA in 2020.
Cook’s new Netherlands operation will use the same digital platform as its UK business, offering tens of thousands of package options from existing and new partners.
It will offer a range of departure airports, with flights from carriers including Transavia, Corendon and easyJet, and flexible durations, as well as transfers.
Destinations include Med hotspots such as Spain, Turkey and Greece, as well as city break favourites such as London, Paris, Rome and Barcelona.
Cook’s new Dutch operation is a member of Netherlands travel association ANVR and will offer full consumer protection. A initially small team in the Netherlands will be supported by Cook’s UK operation, with the team likely to be expanded as business grows.
Alessandro Dassi, chief executive of Thomas Cook Europe and vice-president of Fosun Tourism Group, said: “The success of our China and UK business, despite all of the challenges of the past two years, has given us confidence that now is the time to take our first step into Europe.
"As restrictions ease in the Netherlands we can see huge demand for people to get away on long overdue holidays. Our scalable online platform coupled with the trusted travel expertise of our team, puts us in a strong position to capitalise on the expected market rebound.”
