Thorne Travel has launched its first TV advert as it heads into the crucial post-Christmas peaks booking period.
The Scottish agency, which has three shops in Ayrshire, worked with a production company to create the 30-second advert, which first aired on Boxing Day (26 December).
Shona Thorne, the company’s founder, told TTG that she kept the details of the advert under wraps so it would come as a “surprise” for its clients.
“It’s part of our growth plan – we want to grow more customers without adding more bricks and mortar shops,” she explained. “We also wanted it to be a surprise for our clients.”
Thorne added that its future growth was now more focused on increasing online sales through an expanded digital team of five staff.
The TV advert features Christiane McCorgray, who is branch manager of the Kilwinning shop, and uses the tagline: “Book local, travel global."
Thorne said the advert was part of its peaks campaign, which will also see the launch of new video blogs created by staff members. These will be published via YouTube from late January. The videos will include activities such as cruises, safaris and hot-air ballooning.
