A threat of summer strike action at Edinburgh airport has been averted after hundreds of workers backed a new pay deal.
The Unite union said 96% of workers voted in favour of the deal, which includes a 12% increase in basic pay and shift pay, as well as a one-off £1,000 cash payment.
It comes after Unite’s members at Edinburgh last month voted in favour of strike action this summer. Unionised roles include staff working across airport security and terminal operations.
Unite general secretary Sharon Graham hailed the package "another great deal" for the union’s members.
It follows the agreement on Tuesday (13 June) of an 11% pay rise for around 100 Unite members at Glasgow airport, employed by ICTS Central Search and Menzies Aviation.
