Tourism Australia will bid farewell to Neighbours with a new TV advert set to air during the beloved Aussie soap opera’s final episode tonight.
As fans prepare to say goodbye to the programme after 37 years on Friday (29 July), Tourism Australia’s ad will look to remind Brits “there’s more to Australia than just Ramsay Street”.
The 30-second ad has been created in partnership with Neighbours production company Freemantle to pay homage to the much-loved series.
The advert will feature memorable scenes from Neighbours alongside destination footage of famous Australian locations “to surprise and inspire viewers”.
Its end frame will also use Neighbours’ recognisable font and the video is an adaptation of the tourist board’s “Don’t Go Small, Go Australia” campaign which launched in February.
The ad will be available to view during episodes of Neighbours available on My5 Catch Up until 7 August.
Sally Cope, Tourism Australia’s regional general manager for the UK and Northern Europe, said: “For the past four decades, the popularity of Neighbours has brought Australia into the living rooms of millions of UK residents.
"Now that it is ending, we want to remind fans across the UK who will no longer be getting their daily fix of Australia, that there are so many reasons to head Down Under. The bespoke advert is our way saying goodbye to Neighbours and inviting fans to come and say g’day.”
