Coach holiday specialist Caledonian Leisure has set its sights on strengthening and expanding its presence in the rest of the UK following the acquisition of Glasgow-based rival Tartan Travel.
The acquisition will expand Caledonian Leisure’s Scottish portfolio, providing agents more departure points to market to their clients, including Edinburgh, Halbeath and Bathgate.
The deal comes as part of a wider partnership with Tartan Travel’s former parent company, hotel and tour operator Blackpool Promotions, which is the UK’s largest coach operator of holidays to the Lancashire resort town.
The firm will promote Caledonian Leisure packages in exchange for publicity for its Blackpool four hotels – The Royal Seabank Hotel, The Royal Boston Hotel, The Royal Alexandra Hotel and The Royal Carlton Hotel.
“Blackpool has always been one of our best-selling UK destinations, with high levels of packaged sales through both our Caledonian Travel and UKBreakaways brands,” said Caledonian Leisure managing director Graham Rogers.
“Blackpool Promotions shares our ‘customer first approach’, and we look forward to working closely with the team to create memorable package breaks for our customers in this fabulous resort.”
Blackpool Promotions operations director John Westhead added: “With both companies being leading operators of breaks to Blackpool and Caledonian’s performance in the past couple of years being nothing short of extraordinary, we believe joining forces between our two reputable brands will deliver exceptional products and packages to our growing audiences to mutual benefit.”
Launched in June 2021, Caledonian Leisure claims to have attracted more than 850,000 customers in the nearly three years since its inception.
