Travel Counsellors recorded its best month for UK leisure sales since the start of the Covid crisis in March.
The homeworking firm said average spend in March was up 20% on 2019 levels, with more travellers choosing to upgrade their trips.
Customers are also booking holidays further in advance, said the company.
Travel Counsellors has taken almost £60 million in departures for 2023, which is a 63% uptick on sales for 2020 departures at the same stage in 2019.
Dubai, Tenerife, New York and France are among the most popular destinations for last-minute Easter getaways.
Rome and Barcelona, meanwhile, are proving popular destinations for May departures, with Corfu, Crete, Italy and Algarve among the most popular summer short-haul destinations.
Popular long-haul destinations included the US, particularly California and Florida, the Maldives and Mexico.
Travel Counsellors has also seen an increase in Christmas bookings, with 15% of all bookings made since the start of the year being for winter 2022/23 breaks.
The most popular festive destinations are Dubai, New York, Barbados, Nevada and Iceland.
Steve Byrne, Travel Counsellors chief executive, said he anticipated the increase in bookings would continue as people looked to make up for lost time.
“It is great to see such high demand and desire for travel again, with seasonal trips now returning to the forefront of peoples’ minds," said Byrne.
