An agent has gone "full circle" after expanding his business to larger premises he vacated just a few years earlier when he left his then employer to pursue his dream of owning his own company.
Ben Poole quit his manager’s post at Harrogate independent Traveltalk to launch his own agency, The Travel Journal, in January 2020, initially setting up as a homeworking agency before moving onto the high street in September 2020.
The Traveltalk branch in Harrogate’s Leeds Road later closed following a rebrand, prompting Poole to enquire about leasing it for The Travel Journal. And on Saturday (12 March), The Travel Journal opened its doors at its new home.
Speaking to TTG, Poole said: "I decided to enquire about the lease and took on their old shop which, as a result, is my old workplace, but now also my new workplace for my own agency. I’ve gone full circle."
"We are delighted to play our part in the exciting changes currently happening on Leeds Road and proud to be part of such an amazing community. It’s like a dream come true and the local community and clients are so supportive."
Poole said the firm had "hit the ground running" since it launched, with the Maldives, the Caribbean, Dubai and various luxury short-haul destinations proving "very popular" at the moment.
"I’m really touched the community are happy I’m back after being away for more than two years," he continued. "It’s like coming home. It’s a great feeling, and everyone is so excited about the new look and what I’ve done with the premises – it’s a really exciting time.
"It’s taken years of hard graft, dedication and strong belief in such unprecedented times, but we’re back where we belong and here to stay, and it is great to be back."
