The Travel Network Group will livestream its conference for delegates unable to attend owing to record snowfall in host city Munich over the weekend.
The conference had been due to get under way on Monday (4 December) running through to Wednesday 6 December.
However, after heavy snow impacted Munich airport over the weekend, only around 230 of the 500-plus delegates are expected to make the conference in person, despite the best efforts of the TTNG team who rebooked more than 100 seats for attendees.
TTNG said it would host a "rearranged" overseas conference timetable owing to "major flight disruption following the record snowfall in Munich over the weekend".
"The flight cancellations mean more than half the number of attendees are not able to attend the event, which was due to start today," said TTNG. "The ’Your Story, Your Success’ conference was scheduled to host more than 500 delegates between 4-6 December; following the cancellation of four flights, however, only 230 delegates are now scheduled to arrive."
Gary Lewis, Travel Network Group chief executive, said: "We are hugely disappointed some of our members, business partners and guests can’t join us in Munich for our event.
"Our team has worked tirelessly over the past 14 hours to rebook as many delegates as we could and we have managed to rebook over 100 seats on different flight arrangements, either via Salzburg, Zurich or Stuttgart.
"We are incredibly humbled by the response from our members and business partners; they have all shown understanding to this situation which is outside of our control."
Lewis added: "Our plan is to run a rearranged timetable of the whole conference for those delegates that can make their way to Munich, and we are also equipped to run a livestream of the event for the attendees who sadly could not join us."
This year’s conference will be the group’s first since Budapest in 2019 owing to factors that affected 2020 host city Jerusalem and the Covid-19 pandemic.
