Triple win for Intrepid Travel at The Travel Industry Awards 2022 by TTG
Jennifer MorrisIntrepid Travel scooped the top prize at The Travel Industry Awards 2022 by TTG, taking home the UK & Ireland Travel Company of the Year trophy.
The operator was also earlier in the evening named Touring & Adventure Operator of the Year, as well as winner of the Sustainability Initiative of The Year – Environment category.
Meanwhile, Katie Canavan of The Travel Directors was crowned UK & Ireland Travel Agent of the Year after picking up the Home-Based Agent of the Year accolade.
Now in its second year, The Travel Industry Awards by TTG, in association with JetBlue, took place on Thursday (September 29) at Magazine London beside the iconic O2 Arena, co-hosted by actor and comedian Richard Ayoade.
Guests also enjoyed entertainment from “Elvis”, courtesy of JetBlue, and from the Spark Drummers, as well as a Barbados beach bar, "Richard’s Rooftop Bar" by Virgin Voyages, and much more.
The glittering awards ceremony was attended by nearly 1,000 travel industry figures, and celebrated travel suppliers across various different categories, as well as individual travel agents, and several special categories.
Other big winners on the night included Jet2 plc, with Jet2.com winning Airline of the Year and Jet2holidays taking home the Tour Operator of the Year – Large accolade.
The special John Hays Entrepreneur of the Year Award was presented by Dame Irene Hays to a trio of entrepreneurs: Adam Sebba, Nicholas Priest and Ed Hicks, co-founders of The Luminaire.
The Italian National Tourist Board LGBT+ Trailblazer of the Year trophy went to Uwern Jong, “experientialist-in-chief” of luxury LGBTQ+ travel magazine, OutThere, while the Travel Legend Award was given to Trudie Clements, director of Abta Lifeline, for her tireless work for the charity.
Sani/Ikos Group was another big winner, with Sani Resort winning Family Holidays Provider of the Year while Ikos Resorts was named Hotel & Resort Operator of the Year.
