Tui employees now have the chance to build their own personal AI assistant which can complete everyday tasks quicker than a human being.
AI assistants created on the Tui AI Assistant Store platform and shared with colleagues. During the test phase, more than 200 individual AI assistants were built and used “thousands” of times, the travel group said.
Today, more than 400 assistants are being used by employees. If staff do not want to create their own personal assistant, they can browse the platform for AI assistants relevant to their work.
In the past few weeks, 50 million words and more than 15 million documents have been processed on the platform, making day-to-day business easier, Tui added.
"The introduction of the Tui AI Assistant Store increases the efficiency of Tui employees," it continued.
An AI assistant built specifically for Tui’s British ski holiday brand – Crystal Ski Holidays – has led to time savings of up to 80% in the creation of hotel descriptions for the website.
Rather than taking up to three hours, it now takes Crystal staff between 20 to 30 minutes to create the content.
Pieter Jordaan, Tui Group chief information officer, said: “Our developers have been working on AI since 2016. And today, we use more than 15% of our cloud capacity for AI applications.
“Our focus is on integrating the technology into our processes and platforms. At the same time, we are ensuring that our teams also benefit from the potential of generative artificial intelligence in their day-to-day work with the Tui AI Assistant Store.”
He added: “It was important to us to have an offering that is easy for everyone to use and that guarantees the highest level of security for personal and company data.”
It comes a few weeks after new Tui UK boss Neil Swanson confirmed the travel group would "accelerate" in the direction it has been heading.
"We’ll always be Tui at the absolute core, but we’ll supplement this with the dynamic piece around the outside, and back it up with all of the service".
