Tunisia has made a swift about-turn on PCR test requirements, 11 days after it relaxed rules.
The country will reintroduce PCR testing for foreign arrivals this week. The Tunisian National Tourist Office said the reintroduction, on 27 October, followed “the worrying Covid-19 spikes in many countries”.
Rules were relaxed on 16 October, but tests must once again be carried out 72 hours before departure from the UK, with QR Code verification required. Arrivals must also complete a Tunisian Travel Locator form. Children under 12 are exempt from testing.
All unvaccinated arrivals will undergo mandatory confinement for seven days in an accredited hotel.
Unvaccinated minors under 18 traveling alone or accompanied by vaccinated parents are not subject to quarantine. However, they must commit to self-isolate for seven days.
The Tourist Office added: “Please note that tourists travelling on an organised trip [packaged trip] with a tour operator are also subject to all the new measures, including compulsory confinement if they are not vaccinated.”
The tightening of restrictions follows Morocco’s decision to last week close access to UK and German visitors because of Covid concerns.
