Istanbul’s Pegasus Airlines is offering free flights away from regions affected by the earthquakes in Turkey.
More than 11,000 people are now feared to have died following eruptions in south-eastern Turkey and Syria.
Pegasus has already operated 22 relief flights and 86 passenger flights to and from the affected areas. All direct domestic flights departing from Adana, Diyarbakır, Elazig, Gaziantep, Kayseri, Malatya and Sanliurfa can be booked free of charge and without taxes until 12 February.
The airline said: “We are deeply saddened by the earthquake that occurred in Kahramanmaras and which has affected many provinces. We continue to support those affected and to assist the work of aid organisations. Additional flights are being operated to and from earthquake-affected zones.”
Passengers with bookings to the affected provinces are entitled to change them, including to an open ticket, or cancel their flights for travel between 6 and 21 February 2023 free of charge. The refund process will continue until 31 March 2023, even if flight dates have passed.
The carrier has also donated £220,000 to AFAD (Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency) and £132,000 to the Ahbap Association. Pegasus has also transported pet carriers in aircraft cabins to all the airports located in earthquake-affected zones to aid the rescue of animals.
