The UK remains Tui’s most advanced market in terms of bookings, with the group confident business will near summer 2019 levels by the end of September.
Tui said booking momentum for summer 2022 "remained encouraging" with a "solid pipeline" of 11.5 million bookings for the summer, up from a reported 7.5 million in mid-May.
Average sales prices, meanwhile, are up 18% owing to a higher mix of package bookings.
"Summer 2022 bookings are 90% of summer 2019 levels," said Tui on Wednesday (10 August), up 5% from its first-half results announcement in May (six months to 31 March).
"Booking momentum remains encouraging, with levels in line with normalised summer 2019 levels, as a result of a return to a more pre-pandemic environment of restriction-free travel."
The UK remains Tui’s "most advanced market in terms of bookings" for the summer, with booking volumes "well ahead" of summer 2019 by around 5%.
It is also Tui’s only market "currently booked as usual at this point of time" for the coming winter, albeit with bookings still at "a very early stage".
"The UK has started positively with volumes up 16% compared to the same stage of winter 2018/19 with the programme circa 27% sold," said Tui.
The group said it would provide a more in-depth update on winter sales in September, but stressed it expected to see the "later booking profile" prevalent in the summer "also continue into the winter".
