The UK is set to gain a new route to Kazakhstan’s largest city and financial hub Almaty next month.
Air Astana will launch the twice-weekly service to and from Heathrow airport on 12 May, which it will operate on Thursdays and Saturdays using an Airbus A321LR aircraft offering economy and business cabins.
It features a stopover in the western Kazakh city of Aktau on the Caspian Sea en route to Almaty, which is in the east of the country. A connecting domestic flight from Kazakhstan’s capital, Nur-Sultan, will allow passengers to join return London flights from Aktau.
Services will depart Heathrow at 6.05pm arriving in Aktau at 4.10am (+1). The onward flight from Aktau to Almaty will then depart at 5.10am arriving in Almaty at 9am.
Return services depart Almaty at 10.45am arriving in Aktau at 1.05pm, with the onward flight to Heathrow departing Aktau at 2.05pm and arriving at 4.05pm.
