Virgin Voyages has revealed Brilliant Lady as the name of its upcoming fourth ship to celebrate "the powerful intelligence of women across the globe".
The line said the vessel’s itineraries will be revealed “very soon” and its name had been chosen “for the duality of its meaning”.
Virgin said it wanted to reference the “radiant experience” and brilliant destinations it would offer guests onboard, alongside its support for greater gender equality and encouragement of women "still fighting for their place at the table".
"Intelligence is something women are often taught not to claim for themselves,” the line said. “Women are taught to be pretty, patient, and strong – and those are often traits we’re allowed to own. But being smart, being absolutely brilliant, is a characteristic that women are so rarely allowed to celebrate without fear of being called arrogant.
“Our Brilliant Lady represents the smart, thoughtful, boundary-pushing minds of women around the world – unafraid of owning their intelligence, aware of their importance, and confidently in touch with their own sense of self-worth.”
Virgin Voyages will have a fleet of three vessels – Scarlet Lady, Valiant Lady, and Resilient Lady – sailing from mid-August and second ship Valiant launched from Portsmouth last month.
