VisitBritain boss Patricia Yates has welcomed new tourism minister Stuart Andrew to his role, telling him she looks forward to working with him and the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) to "drive economic growth" through tourism.
Andrew was reappointed parliamentary under secretary of state at the DCMS late last month; he takes on the tourism brief from Lord Syed Kamall, who served a short stint as Britain’s tourism lead under Liz Truss after succeeding Nigel Huddleston.
Yates, chief executive of VisitBritain and VisitEngland, tweeted: "Delighted that the new tourism minister is @StuartAndrew – looking forward to working with him to drive economic growth right across Britain."
VisitBritain also tweeted its own welcome. "Congratulations to Rt Hon @StuartAndrew MP who has been appointed as tourism minister @DCMS. We look forward to working with you soon!"
Andrew is MP for Pudsey in Yorkshire. He is also parliamentary under secretary of state at the Department for International Trade, where he holds the equalities brief.
