Universal Studios Hollywood has unveiled a new interactive Mario-themed "power band" to coincide with the launch of Super Nintendo World next month.
The new addition to the park will open to guests on 17 February, and the Power-Up Band will allow visitors to sync with Universal’s app and function as a complement to the new area’s interactive elements.
The band is available for purchase in six design options with character themes, including iconic characters from the Super Mario game series, such as Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Yoshi, Toad and Princess Daisy.
With the use of a Power-Up Band, guests can compete against other teams to achieve the highest score throughout the day by collecting the most digital coins.
When riding the new Mario Kart: Bowser’s Challenge experience, guests will be able to tap their band on the ride vehicle’s steering wheel to track digital coins collected as well as gauge their ranking against friends and family.
The device also unlocks additional gameplay activities and experiences, such as collecting digital coins and stamps when completing milestones within the land.
