Westoe Travel boss Graeme Brett has revealed his star turn in a new Amazon documentary following Newcastle United.
Brett, owner of the South Shields-based agency, features in the second episode of We Are Newcastle United, which began last week and is narrated by Alan Shearer.
The four-part series follows Newcastle during last year’s Premier League season and includes Westoe helping to organise travel for fans ahead of the team’s EFL Cup final at Wembley in February - the club’s first final since 1999.
Brett said a camera crew had visited his shop for a day of filming, as he and his team booked rail packages, collected train tickets and secured hotel stays for supporters.
He described how the Westoe team had been “sworn to secrecy” about their part in the show – with their episode, Tell me ma, me ma, (we’re going to Wembley), finally airing on Friday (18 August).
“At first everyone was shy in front of the cameras but after half an hour we just carried on as normal,” he said. “It was a very enjoyable experience and hopefully we get a few more customers who see the documentary.”
Brett revealed this morning he was still yet to see the episode having been travelling down to London ahead of a trip to Alaska tomorrow.
"I’ve had loads of messages about it and I’ve been sent pictures of me in it. It’s brilliant to be involved at such an exciting time for the club. There’s a great feeling around the club and the area and we’re happy to be a part of that too - it’s absolutely fab."
