Yorkshire is set to gain a new twice-weekly route to Moldova later this year.
Budget carrier Wizz Air will launch flights to Moldovan capital Chisinau from Doncaster Sheffield airport on 20 December.
Flights will operate on Mondays and Fridays.
One-way fares lead in from £25.99 and are on sale now.
The route is Wizz’s 14th from Doncaster Sheffield, where it flies to Vilnius in Lithuania; Gdansk, Katowice, Krakow, Poznan, Warsaw and Wroclaw in Poland; Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca and Timisoara in Romania; Riga in Latvia; and Budapest and Debrecen in Hungary.
Owain Jones, Wizz Air UK managing director, said: “Moldova is one of Europe’s undiscovered gems, making it ripe for exploring. Fans of brutalist architecture, in particular, will love visiting Chisinau where there are some great examples of grandiose buildings, not forgetting the delicious wine Moldova is famous for.”
Meanwhile, Wizz’s inaugural flight from Liverpool to the Bulgarian Black Sea resort of Varna took off on Wednesday (17 July).
Wizz’s three times weekly service will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and becomes the airline’s eighth at Liverpool John Lennon airport.
