A woman "operating as a travel agent" in the Winchester area has been arrested on suspicion of fraud.
InteleTravel confirmed to TTG it had terminated its relationship with one of its agents. "We are taking the matter very seriously," said a spokesperson. "We have alerted all the relevant authorities, including industry organisations, and are working closely with them.
"InteleTravel is in constant communication with all affected customers. We are unable to provide any further information at this time due to the nature of the ongoing investigations. InteleTravel has robust anti-fraud measures and a commitment to working with industry peers to eradicate fraud."
Abta told TTG it had been contacted by InteleTravel in relation to a number of bookings made with one of its agents.
The BBC reports more than 30 people have banded together to share their experiences using the agent via a Facebook group. They allege being left out of pocket after the agent failed to make the necessary flight and hotel bookings and payments.
A spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary confirmed the force was investigating and that an arrest had been made.
"Officers are investigating a number of reports in relation to allegations of fraud," they said. "It has been alleged that money was taken for holidays by a woman operating as a travel agent, which were then not booked.
"A 39-year-old woman from Winchester has been arrested on suspicion of fraud by abuse of position. She has been released on police bail until 8 December."
An Abta spokesperson said: "We have been contacted by InteleTravel informing us of issues regarding some bookings made with one of their agents. We are not aware of the specific cases.
"Customers who have had issues with bookings should contact InteleTravel for further information."
