Traditional Christmas magic combines with groovy vibes at Jingle and Mingle on 23 December, where the lighting of the island’s Christmas tree is followed by a night of funky festive beats with DJ Tappu. On Christmas Day itself, guests can enjoy a visit from ‘Funky Santa Claus’ himself, before indulging in a Funk & Fizz Christmas Brunch at Baazaar and grooving on the dance floor at Baa Bar.
Throughout the yuletide season, a myriad of fun, family-friendly sports challenges, culinary experiences and retro activities will bring guests of all ages together and keep the spirit of the 70s alive, from the Disco Dash: Funky Run, Family Splash Ocean Relay and Groove & Splash Water Polo; to tie dye workshops, Far Out Family Trivia, and the Saturday Night Fever: Let’s Glow Crazy party at Baa Bar (28 December).
Younger guests can also get in the groove with Disco Ball Creations and aerial acrobatics, and showcase their talents at a dazzling fashion show featuring the Acro Duo, Funk it Up: Junior Masterchef, and Disco Dazzle costume contest.
New Year’s Eve brings a host of ABBA-solutely showstopping celebrations to Amilla Maldives, kicking off the evening with Gimme Gimme Cocktails and a New Year’s buffet dinner at Baazaar. The world-famous Björn Again will then take centre stage at Amilla’s New Year’s Eve Party, infusing celebrations with their renowned blend of humour, nostalgia and musical talent - and for those who aren’t ready to hang up their dancing shoes, the night fever continues at Tessera’s after party.
The merriment continues through to 6 January, with guests of all ages able to enjoy a smorgasbord of activities and workshops, including Mermaids and Mimosas on New Year’s Day, groovy art classes, friendly sporting competitions and regular disco sessions at Baa Bar, culminating in a special dinner at Baazaar to mark Orthodox Christmas Day.
