British Airways has announced an expansion of connectivity between London, Brazil and Argentina from the end of October. The airline will increase frequencies between London Heathrow (LHR) and São Paulo Guarulhos International Airport (GRU) from daily to 10 weekly flights from October 29th, 2024. With this improvement, the number of seats on the route will increase by 28% compared to last Winter, offering more options for business and leisure travellers, including overnight departures from São Paulo.

Currently operating once a day with the latest generation Airbus A350-1000 aircraft, the three additional weekly flights will be operated by the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner and, from October 27th, all British Airways flights to São Paulo will operate from Heathrow Terminal 5. British Airways is also increasing capacity on the London Heathrow route to Rio de Janeiro (GIG) and Buenos Aires (EZE). Starting October 27th, 2024, the route will be served by the Airbus A350-1000, offering a luxurious travel experience and a 22% increase in seats compared to last Winter.

The president of Embratur, Marcelo Freixo, celebrates another successful partnership between the Agency and airlines to increase the number of foreign tourists in Brazil. “British Airways flights provide a vital connection between Europe and Brazil and we are very happy to work together on a strategy that combines increased flight frequencies with actions to promote Brazilian destinations, to ensure that this increase in flights results in an increase in tourists to our country.”

Neil Chernoff, Director of Planning and Strategy at British Airways, says he is optimistic about the new frequencies. “We are pleased to announce the expansion of our flight services between London Heathrow and São Paulo, and the introduction of the A350-1000 on flights to Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires. We know there is growing demand for travel between the UK, Brazil and Argentina and we are confident that both business and leisure customers will enjoy these improvements.”
