Turks & Caicos’ new tourism minister Zhavargo Jolly has pledged to build "sustainable, high-value industry while solidifying our reputation as a premier global destination".
Following country’s general elections in February, Jolly was named the new minister of tourism, agriculture, fisheries, and the environment.
A seasoned entrepreneur, financial expert, and dedicated public servant, Jolly brings a wealth of experience to his ministerial role. Before entering politics, he served as the managing director of Turks and Caicos Islands Capital, a private investment and lending firm.
His background in finance, business strategy, and economic development has equipped him with the expertise to drive sustainable growth in the country’s tourism industry.
Jolly is a graduate of the University of South Carolina, where he earned a degree in Business, and later obtained an MBA from NYU Stern School of Business. His leadership skills were further sharpened through his service in the Turks and Caicos Islands Marine Regiment, where he was awarded the Governor’s Award as the most outstanding recruit.
A dedicated advocate for the economic empowerment of Turks and Caicos Islanders, Jolly is committed to ensuring that the people of the Turks and Caicos Islands are the primary beneficiaries of the nation’s thriving tourism industry. His vision aligns closely with Experience Turks and Caicos’ pillar of inclusive growth, ensuring that all communities across the islands share in the economic benefits of the sector.
“Leading the tourism sector is a responsibility I take very seriously,” says Jolly. “I look forward to working with the team at Experience Turks and Caicos to build a sustainable, high-value industry while solidifying our reputation as a premier global destination.
"In the coming months, I aim to strengthen relationships with stakeholders across the tourism sector, both regionally and in our key source markets.”
