Omega Breaks adds 2027 Egypt eclipse tours

Omega Breaks has launched two new tours to see the solar eclipse in Egypt in 2027. Set to be the longest eclipse of the century, this is a once-in-a-lifetime trip in the company of astronomer, astrophotographer and the BBC’s Sky at Night TV presenter, Pete Lawrence

The eclipse will take place on 2 August 2027 in Luxor and its time at the centre line it is expected to last an astonishing six minutes and 24 seconds. Every 18 years and 11 days, the Saros Cycle series 136 occurs and has up until now produced some of the longest eclipses, notably an incredible 6 minute 38.86 seconds in 2009. Eclipse chasers from across the world are expecting the 2027 phenomenon to be a truly awesome spectacle.

Pete Lawrence, will be travelling with guests for the Luxor part of the tour, sharing his knowledge of what to expect and how best to photograph the eclipse. On the day of the eclipse he will escort the group to the viewing site near Luxor Temple, on the west bank of the Nile, and be on hand throughout to provide tips and insight.

Claire Dutton, trade sales manager at Omega Breaks comments: “Eclipse tourism had a real boost this year with the incredible sightings experienced in April in Texas our tours to witness the event were hugely successful.

“We know from our experience in selling eclipse breaks that customers book several years in advance as they know it is such a unique phenomenon and they don’t want to miss out. Travelling in the company of an astronomy expert who can bring the whole event to life, making it even more special and unique.

“Therefore, whilst 2027 might seem a long way off to be promoting, I’d urge agents to begin marketing this as widely as possible as they might be surprised by the variety of customers it appeals to.”

Two tours are now on sale, an eight-day Luxor only option, and a 11-day Luxor and Cairo combined trip. Both combine seeing the eclipse with the chance to explore more of ancient Egypt.

Eight day tour to Luxor departs 29 July and priced from £3499pp. The 11 day tour departs on 26 July and priced from £4499pp including additional three nights in Cairo.
