The episodes will showcase a Scenic Eclipse voyage to the most remote region on earth, Antarctica.
Ultra-Luxury Discovery Yacht, Scenic Eclipse, will star in two episodes of ‘Cruising with Susan Calman’ as she discovers the most remote region on earth, Antarctica. The episodes will air at 8pm on Friday 9 and 16 February on British television network, Channel 5.
Reaching a regular audience of 1 million, viewers will see the Scottish comedian, writer, and presenter, Susan Calman, sail the Antarctic peninsula on board Scenic Eclipse, The World’s First Discovery Yacht™. In April 2023, Scenic launched its second yacht, Scenic Eclipse II.
Sailing from Ushuaia on Scenic’s most popular expedition voyage, Susan will sail the Drake Passage before reaching the polar south and stepping foot onto the pristine ice and completing the ’Polar Plunge’, an exhilarating dip into the icy waters.
Susan will join excursions led by the Scenic expert Discovery Team, comprising naturalists, marine biologists, and glaciologists, with unrivalled access to the region’s most remarkable landing sites. On the expedition voyage, Susan stepped ashore and visited the remarkable ‘End of the World Post Office’ which sits in the heart of Tierra del Fuego National Park, at the southernmost tip of Argentina and seven miles outside of Ushuaia.
Nichola Absalom, managing director, sales & marketing, Scenic UK, said: “Ahead of our biggest ever Antarctica season, we’re thrilled to have Susan on board experiencing our ultra-luxury expedition voyage experience. A TV programme with an engaged audience of this size offers Scenic a unique opportunity to showcase how a Discovery Yacht with just 200 guests is ideal for expedition cruising and elevates the experience in Antarctica. As seen on screen, Susan is able to land on the remote continent in places that larger ships would not be able to access; Scenic Eclipse is agile, and the Captain can change the itinerary at a moment’s notice for greater wildlife encounters.
“Whether viewing the spectacular scenery from the Observation Lounge and spotting whales through our Swarovski telescopes or taking a bird’s-eye view of unexplored lands from our helicopter, viewers will be able to get great insight into what cruising on board Scenic Eclipse entails."
For further information on ultra-luxury Scenic Eclipse expedition voyages, agents can join the Antarctica live agent webinar with National Key Account Manager, Wendi Hardy on 7 February, 9.30am.
Scenic will be offering triple River Rewards & More points, worth £60, for every Antarctica cruise booking made during February.
