Cherie Richards, commercial director of travel agency consortium Global Travel Group, is the first-ever recipient of the Contribution to Travel award at TTG Top 50 Travel Agencies
Presented by sponsor Scenic & Emerald Waterways, and judged in conjunction with the TTG Media team, the award went to Cherie after she received strong nominations from across the industry.
Following roles with Sovereign Holidays, Going Places, Bridge Travel Group and Harvey World Travel, Cherie joined Global in 2008, progressing from commercial manager to head of commercial, before her current position.
Cherie’s current remit includes negotiating with 200 supplier partners, supporting more than 350 agent partners, overseeing five departments and supporting managing director Andy Stark.
One nomination said: “Cherie is able to support, inspire and motivate you to achieve and be the best version of yourself. She is approachable, fair and thorough, with an extremely caring attitude towards all aspects of her role.”
Another said: “Everything Cherie does is motivated by her passion for her agents and her staff, placing them at the heart of everything she works for.
“In the past two years she has created two particularly inspirational activities –Global Network of Women, and Global Buddies – enabling experienced members to share their skills and knowledge with new members.”
Outside of work, Cherie enjoys rounders, golf, swimming and, of course, going on holiday. We hope she will also now enjoy admiring her shiny new TTG Top 50 Contribution to Travel award!
This brand-new award was created this year to give genuine recognition to a member of the travel agency community who has inspired others through their leadership, demonstrated an innovative approach to doing business, or who has given outstanding commitment to their local community.
