The luxury ecotourism pioneers will launch their fifth property in Uganda in July in celebration of its 25th anniversary.
Volcanoes Safaris will debut its Kibale Lodge in Uganda this July, marking the fifth addition to the African ecotourism operator’s portfolio.
Situated about an hour’s drive from the hill town of Port Fortal, the 150-acre property will create a unique circuit that connects the premier gorilla and chimpanzee locations in Africa.
Guests can expect eight luxury bandas, four of which will be ready from July and four of which will be complete by the end of the year, as well as a spa with a sauna, steam room, a swimming pool, and two double massage rooms. There will also be personal butler service for all guests, along with the opportunity to participate in community and conservation activities.
Built in the signature Volcanoes’ handmade style, the lodge has been crafted by an in-house team of African artisans led by Ugandan-born founder, Praveen Moman. It offers views of the Rwenzori Mountains to the west, while the Queen Elizabeth plains and Kazinga channel are located to the south.
“We are delighted to open Kibale Lodge,” said Moman. “There are three key aspects to highlight: firstly, like our other lodges, it is hand-built by our artisans. Secondly, we are honoured to collaborate with key partners to support conservation and community activities around Kibale. Lastly, Kibale Forest – the primate capital of the world – is one of the best parks to observe chimpanzees in Africa, home to a community of 1,500 chimps.”
Rates for Kibale Lodge start from $990 per person per night on full board in low season. Rates include accommodation and meals, all soft and alcoholic drinks (except French champagne, but including cellar collection wines, cocktails and single malt whiskeys), laundry services, lodge activities, massage and spa treatments.
