Going strong for more than a decade, Southampton Cruise Centre specialises in sailings from the UK’s largest cruise port and serves as the flagship ocean cruising brand of Blackpool’s Travel Village Group.
The website has seen an evolution over the past 12 months with new technology and customer service processes, which has boosted business by more than 70% year-on-year. Its team pride themselves on customer care, with all clients regularly contacted, while boss Phil Nuttall personally responds to every customer feedback email.
A new support team tasked with handling admin has been put in place to allow agents to spend even more time looking after their clients. Staff are always on hand to go that extra mile – be it battling against the odds to secure a refund on flights when a client’s mistake on their visa application put the kibosh on their US cruise – or taking brochures to an elderly customer’s house to allow them to choose their holiday in the comfort of their own home.
The team have also added the option for customers to book airport lounges, parking, car hire and insurance through its website, leaving no stone unturned when it comes to those vital holiday extras.
The tight-knit team held their first company conference – fittingly onboard one of the industry’s newest cruise ships – in May 2022 and welcomed more than 1,000 people to its first travel show in Blackpool this January.
Last summer, members of staff ran the Blackpool 10km in memory of a colleague, raising more than £1,000 for a local hospice, while the team has also partnered with a company turning discarded fishing nets into dog leads to raise awareness around sustainability within the cruise industry. That is set to continue this year working with Royal Caribbean to clean up local beaches.
