From commissioning a local artist to design and paint a safari-themed window at Swords Travel’s contemporary-feel Wimbledon shop, to launching Above & Beyond Awards to recognise the outstanding performances among the team of 11, this is a luxury travel business that never stands still.
Seeing a need to find a reliable luxury transfer option, the team recently started working with Rolzo, offering competitive pricing and peace-of-mind, while one of the team wanted to wow family clients, so now works with a small independent business to create customised travel bags for children, full of relevant treats for their holidays.
When it comes to planning those trips, this growing team are always thirsty for knowledge – over the past year, they have stayed in 242 hotels in 87 countries. Business owners Mark and Stuart Swords took all the team on a trip to Greece, and some of them also attended key luxury trade shows such as Pure in Marrakech, and International Luxury Travel Market in Cannes for the first time.
Customers can now access their bookings themselves via a slick new portal and always receive beautifully presented quotes and itineraries – clients are also increasingly communicating with their agent over WhatsApp at times to suit them, with the team available 24-7.
Private dinners for clients in Guildford, pop-ups on a local high street in Southbourne and luxury travel shows in Essex and Hampshire have all helped get Swords Travel’s name out there.
Much work has also been done behind the scenes to create the Swords Travel Sustainable Collection – highlights of ideas from tour operators, hotels and cruise lines with a greener slant – which will be showcased when Swords’ website relaunches this year.
The team is also proud of the conscious choices they are making themselves at home and when travelling. And to encourage the next generation, they’ve been taking on students from a local college for work experience and helping with mock interviews for those keen to get into travel.
