It’s been a busy and successful year for Travel Counsellors with the company nearly doubling pre-pandemic turnover and increasing its number of homeworkers to more than 2,000. And for the first time, some of the new recruits were supported through a new scholarship programme. A brand update has helped highlight the Manchester-based company’s focus on luxury travel. Among other improvements, both clients and their agents can now update travel plans through a mobile app. Meanwhile, internally, as many of its homeworkers now work in mini teams, Travel Counsellors have improved technology which makes it easier for them to collaborate and to receive help from head office, so customers are always well supported. Travel Counsellors have for the first time got involved in working with Instagram influencers to highlight destinations and consultants’ great customer service. Training activities, including onboard a Virgin Voyages ship, have helped 300 agents enhance their own social media game. The company’s training channel, TCTV, is also back after a pandemic hiatus. Travel Counsellors’ sustainability initiatives have gathered pace, with particular investment in a system which flags hotels with globally recognised green credentials, making properties easier to recommend. Around a third of the hotels the company books now have such standards. The business has also worked hard to reduce the carbon footprint of its own conference, even reducing food waste. A new sustainability lead at head office will keep such improvements coming. A fun World Cup-themed team game kept more than 2,000 far flung TCs smiling though the busy January sales period. A 98% five-star rating on Trustpilot from nearly 7,000 reviews shows customers are clearly happy too.
