With a combined 248 years’ experience selling travel, the experts at Blue Bay Travel really put their customers at the heart of their business. The team overhauled their marketing last year to zero in on their customers’ needs, and started from scratch to go from three websites to just one that meant customers had a better experience searching for their dream holiday. The work has paid off, with Blue Bay Travel reporting its best-ever year for online bookings. Last year also saw a focus on delivering flash sales to customers to offer the best prices, extras and upgrades on shorter booking windows so that last-minute holidaymakers don’t miss out. Travellers lucky enough to visit Tenerife can meet Blue Bay Travel agent and Tenerife resident Sarah-Jane for drinks and get vouchers or extras for their rooms on their stays, while some of the team took in a number of destinations to better educate themselves for their customers, including Abu Dhabi, Tobago and Jamaica. As if that wasn’t enough to ring in the milestone of 20 years in business, Blue Bay Travel are also committed to promoting travel as a career. The agency took on work experience placements during 2023, in partnership with Newcastle & Stafford College Group, and nine apprentices are currently employed across different areas of the business. Blue Bay Travel will welcome 20 students from local schools and colleges in 2024, and the agency’s learning and development team actively supports schools, colleges and universities, with visits and key skills workshops. On social media, Death in Paradise star Ralf Little joined forces with Blue Bay to document his three-week tour of Thailand. Members of the agency’s VIP loyalty programme, Chairman’s Club, have access to a dedicated Facebook page, early access to the flash sales and exclusive events including coffee mornings with Blue Bay chief Alistair Rowland.
