Top 50 - Northern Ireland - Oasis Travel, Lisburn

Celebrating its 40-year anniversary in 2023, this busy branch is a well-known feature of Northern Ireland’s third-biggest town. This location plays host to the nerve centre of the wider Oasis Travel business too, and also includes a Portfolio office – a private space for offering a high-end appointment service.

The close-knit team’s time with the business ranges from six months to 35 years, and three of them have even recently undergone training on how to be a tour guide, giving them extra skills to potentially lead group trips.

The in-store customer experience has recently been elevated too, with the addition of fresh flowers, staff names displayed prominently on top of the shop’s computers, and scent diffusers to create a relaxing environment.

Customers might also be able to get a few tips from the team’s “magic book” – which manager Briege McElroy makes sure is full of all kinds of recommendations and insider info gleaned from trips.

The team has been getting creative with ways to surprise and delight customers, including moving parents to tears with the effort put into a very special “letter from Santa” sent with a gift hamper for a young customer ahead of a trip. They also turned their hand to creating a video to be played on a customer’s TV on Christmas morning to showcase the surprise holiday planned for the family.

This team has run special client dinners, created a private Facebook group for luxury customers and continued to sponsor local schools and sports clubs to ensure everyone is aware of the Oasis name and how they engage with the community.

Like other Oasis branches, Lisburn has seen the designation of a Green Champion, an invigorated focus that could include anything from litter picking in Lisburn to suggesting responsible holiday choices for clients.

The launch of Wellbeing Champions has focused minds on another important element, with each store applying for a “grant” from HQ to do something special – Briege used her funds to plan a well-earned spa break for the team.
