Off Broadway Travel celebrated its 25th anniversary in October with parties for its clients and travel industry friends. The events were packed, which is a testament to the loyalty, respect and goodwill this expert team have amassed over the years.
Many of the store’s team of six have been with the agency since its conception, including founder Tricia Conroy Smith and business partners Natalie Bennett and Paul Rice. Senior travel specialist Mark Beattie works across the Welwyn shop and the agency’s office in Kent, and there are seven home-based sales consultants.
Each consultant aims to make every step of the booking process stress-free for clients. Suggested itineraries include unique elements gleaned by the team’s expert destination knowledge, and one traveller to Iceland was thrilled to be able to snorkel between two tectonic plates.
Before departure the team sort online check-in, print boarding passes and assist with visas, and upon returning everyone is invited to share their photos over a glass of fizz. The welcoming store was refurbished during the pandemic, boasting a stylish lounge-style area.
Customers are delighted with the service they receive, giving average scores of 4.9 out of 5 on Google and Facebook. Many new enquiries are based on recommendations from friends or family, and those recommending the branch are thanked with personalised gifts.
The past year has seen a keen focus on the team’s active social media presence, which has led to numerous bookings. Plus, in January Off Broadway held its first post-pandemic Luxury Travel Fayre, alongside smaller in-store events.
The team have been in Welwyn village for 15 years and frequently attend local events and groups. Instead of sending Christmas cards in December, the agency bought £500 worth of food for a local food bank.
Off Broadway Travel has also created a very supportive work environment, and everyone was taken to Cyprus last year as a thank you for their efforts.
