The agency’s long-standing commitment to customer service remained evident throughout the last year, with a series of in-store events because customer feedback indicated a preference for in-person contact. Loyalty for repeat bookers who also recommend to friends and family – regardless of spend – includes vouchers, hampers and arrangements for repeat gifts while on holiday. Meanwhile, the agency continues to go above and beyond to surprise and delight, including the arrangement of a bespoke guide on a private trip in Australia to cater for its Chinese speaking travellers. Owner Shona Thorne took on five apprentices during 2023, with three working in the company’s new Prestwick shop, which opened its doors in January. In Shona’s commitment to her team, and to highlight their passion and experience in the business, two long-standing members earned director-level promotions and became formal business partners. And to cement its position as a pillar of its local community, Thorne Travel has partnered with community businesses, such as the local optometrist and butchers, throughout 2023 for themed events and to offer joint promotions on products. Its long-standing charitable arm, All About The Magic, last year provided 65 less fortunate families with day trips, vouchers and tickets to the theatre and the cinema.
