Dedication to its customers and the community is at the heart of The Destination Lounge’s core values, evident in how director Jake Goodenough and his team of two, Hayley and Kelly, talk about their involvement in local life.
A striking example of this commitment is how the agency was inspired to set up its Helping Hands initiative recently after a client passed away, with matched donations from clients benefiting local charities. The team also worked hard to get the family holiday switched at the bereaved husband’s request to another family in a similar situation.
A lot of thought goes into the shop’s window displays, with branch manager Hayley taking charge of weekly refreshes, making sure to include local deals and places that are easy to get to so that there’s something for all manner of customers. She also makes up autograph books for any children visiting Disneyland, adding in good luck messages for kids who were recently taking part in a parade at the park.
One of the agency’s best innovations last year was its branded wedding and honeymoon cards for clients to give to their guests – making it easy for couples to request donations for their special day and beyond. The agency also offers a personal touch with a difference: on arrival at their hotel room, clients are greeted by a poster of the agent they booked with and a thank you message.
Jake is passionate about animal welfare and promoting ethical trips when he can. He also shares his expertise on a bi-monthly slot on local radio.
After Thomas Cook went under last year, The Destination Lounge stepped in to support many of the company’s local clients who needed guidance, rebooking holidays and winning new customers in the process.
It’s clear The Destination Lounge is committed to supporting its local community in any way it can, whether that’s sponsoring raffle prizes at a local school fair or going above and beyond for clients.
