Former home secretary Lord David Blunkett will join TTG’s Fairer Travel Month in July alongside a host of leading speakers across the diversity and sustainability forums.
Blunkett, who served in Tony Blair’s cabinet from 1997-2005 and has been a member of the House of Lords since 2015, will take part in the Fairer Travel Diversity Forum on Monday 8 July discussing accessibility in travel.
As chair of easyJet’s revamped Assisted Travel Advisory Board, Blunkett helps advise the airline and hold it to account around its accessibility policies and service experience for customers with additional needs.
He also chairs Heathrow’s Sustainable Economic Growth Taskforce, a steering group whose remit includes creating greater community engagement and diversity and inclusion at the UK’s largest airport.
Joining Lord Blunkett at the Fairer Travel Diversity Forum will be Asad Dhunna and Shilpa Saul of DEI consultancy The Unmistakables, Atlyn Forde, CEO of Communicate Inclusively and Lottie Norman, chief marketing officer at Contiki.
Meanwhile, TTG’s Fairer Travel Sustainability Forum on Thursday 11 July will welcome Melissa Tilling, chief executive of Sustainable Journeys and Charitable Travel, and Hannah Methven, sustainability specialist, Explore Worldwide.
Speakers already announced for the Sustainability Forum include Susanne Etti, Intrepid Travel’s global environmental impact manager; Miles Lockwood, director of complaints and investigations at the Advertising Standards Authority; and Jennifer McGarrigle, co-founder and CEO at sustainability consulting specialists Cyd Connects.
Speakers already revealed for the Diversity Forum include Onyinye Udokporo, neurodiversity consultant, author and educator; Sassy Wyatt, Blind Girl Adventures content creator and accessibility consultant; and Anna Perrott, co-founder of industry parent support group Back In Time For Bed and director of partnerships at Panache Cruises.
More speakers for both forums are yet to be announced, with tickets for the individual events priced at £49pp and a ticket to attend both available for £89.
