Did you know we are facing what some experts have described as a tsunami of cancer rates in the workforce? The number of under-50s with cancer has surged by 24% since 1995 and, more than three-quarters of people with cancer fear telling their colleagues. In this workshop, you’ll learn about how cancer affects everyone differently and how the challenges presented by a cancer diagnosis and treatment can become a barrier to employees making a successful return to work. One of the key challenges for all of us is talking about cancer at work without resorting to clichés. The workshop will cover four key stages when it’s important to talk about cancer, what to say, why, how and when. Attendees will learn about the need for a clear, but flexible approach, the common communication traps we all fall into and how to avoid them, and how to demonstrate a culture of empathy and support and a visible commitment to staff.

This session will help develop leaders to become champions of inclusivity and embrace everyone across their diverse workforce. Knowledge of DEI alone is not regarded as being enough to extract maximum value for a company in terms of its employee value proposition, productivity and profitability. This session will help you understand how to identify the gaps that exist in your DEI journey which could, unknowingly, be preventing your organisation from making a real strategic business impact. It will help you create transformational change and accelerate progress, leading to the creation of world-class teams.
